Daryl Smith, PT
Daryl received his Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1997. Prior to that he attended CSU Sacramento where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with emphasis in Anatomy/Physiology. He is a firm believer in continuing education and has attended a variety of orthopedic courses to improve his evaluation and treatment approach. He also presented at the 2002 South Sound Sports Medicine Conference on Physical Therapy Management of the Multisport Athlete.
Daryl has 10 years of experience working in both acute and outpatient care settings and treating a variety of individuals with orthopedic and neurological injuries. He has had the opportunity to work with and learn from a number of excellent therapists. Daryl’s particular interests lie in ankle/foot biomechanics, orthotic therapy, and injury prevention and treatment of running and cycling athletes.
Outside of the clinical setting, Daryl can frequently be found on the beaches, local and mountain trails and parks, or on bike rides with his wife Catherine, son Joshua, and their beagle Emma. Daryl is also a competitive triathlete and a USA Triathlon certified coach, guiding many local triathletes, runners, and cyclists, from beginner to elite. He teaches running biomechanics classes to local athletes to reduce injury risk associated with running and to improve their overall performance and enjoyment of the sport. In addition, Daryl provides injury screenings to Northcoast Gymnastics on a biweekly basis. He feels particularly blessed that he has been able to work with so many patients and athletes on an individual basis, using their strengths to achieve their goals and dreams.
