Dawn Rauwolf, PTA

Dawn graduated from Trinity Western University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts, concentration in Human Kinetics. During her time at TWU in British Columbia, she volunteered at the sports therapy clinic. It was at this clinic, while treating the university’s athletes, that she discovered her love for physical rehabilitation. After graduation she moved back to the U.S. and started work as a physical therapy aide at a clinic in Blaine, Washington. Shortly thereafter, Dawn was accepted into the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Whatcom Community College.

During her education at WCC, Dawn interned in various settings in the physical therapy field including: Saint Francis Extended Health Care, Evergreen Physical Therapy, Island Hospital, and Bellingham Physical Therapy. Dawn earned the recognition of Dean’s List scholar every quarter she was at WCC and graduated with her Associate’s degree for Physical Therapist Assistants in December of 2006, with a job offer to join the team at Bellingham Physical Therapy.

As a new grad, Dawn has many plans for continuing her education which include taking the PTA licensure exam for the state of Oregon in March 2007. She is also interested in continuing her education in the area of Pilates, lymphedema management, the Graston Technique, TMJ management, and spinal mobilization. Dawn has hopes of getting involved in community education and perhaps one day teaching in the PTA program. Dawn hopes to one day take her knowledge of the human body and rehabilitation methods to a developing country to do volunteer work.

As a third generation Washington resident, Dawn loves the outdoors and is happiest running the beaches of her home in Birch Bay or backpacking in the mountains. She tries to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle and enjoys participating in all the outdoor activities available in the beautiful northwest. She also enjoys making music and good Thai food with her husband Michael, and spending time with friends and family.
