John McWilliams, PT
John received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Washington in 1973, and graduated with a Master of Arts in Physical Therapy from Stanford University in 1975.
John and Marcia moved to Bellingham in 1978, and he worked at St. Luke’s Hospital prior to opening Bellingham Physical Therapy in 1981. His practice has focused on orthopedic and related movement problems. As a student of Tai Chi and Chi Kung, John brings a whole body, holistic sense to his practice. As a person becomes aware of how their whole system is related, they can better appreciate its connectedness and take responsibility for its changes. John’s continuing education courses range from focusing on specific body segments to overall movement systems to the latest technological advances in biofeedback devices, such as SCENAR. He has even experienced a few injuries himself, just to see if physical therapy really works as well as he thinks it does.
John is really lucky, as his wife Marcia runs the business office so he can be a PT. They have two children grown and two puppies not grown (but in process). John volunteers in the training room at Squalicum High School and in the medical tent at local soccer tournaments. John refereed soccer for 15 years from youth to collegiate level. He has treated people from small children to professional athletes of football and track and field.
Known as an ambler, John likes nice walking – he enjoys the journey, reading, being outside, and camping. His wife and two kids are the lights of his life.
