Stacey Stauber, PT, MS

Stacey graduated from the University of Montana in 2000 with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies at University of California Santa Barbara in 1991.

In the time between earning her two degrees, Stacey spent her winters working and skiing at ski resorts in Utah and Montana. She moved to Bellingham in 2000 and worked at St. Joseph Hospital and several outpatient clinics around town as an on call physical therapist. She was then hired full time at an outpatient clinic where she worked for five years. In response to treating a variety of orthopedic problems related to “falls” in the elderly, she developed a Balance and Falls Prevention program. She began working at Bellingham Physical Therapy in June 2006 where she continues to offer her Balance and Falls Prevention program.

Stacey has augmented her physical therapy education with several continuing education courses that focus on manual techniques including levels one, two, and three of strain-counterstrain; level one of the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy; trigger point release and Mulligan mobilizations. She combines this with the knowledge gained from courses in muscle imbalances and movement disorders taught by Carrie Hall, the McConnell Institute, and the McKenzie Institute. She has taken several courses in balance disorders, and incorporates unique treatment techniques such as Tai Chi into her balance program.

Whether she is helping a young athlete to return to their sport or maximizing the independence and safety of the elderly, Stacey enjoys teaching patients to treat themselves and prevent future injuries. She encourages them to take an active role in their recovery.

When Stacey is not working, she tries to practice what she preaches by staying active. She enjoys mountain biking, hiking, swimming and skiing. She spends her free time with her husband Kurt, daughter Ke’ala and dog Tatoosh. She is a member of the Bellingham Masters Swim Club and has participated for several years in local events such as the annual Ski to Sea race, and more recently the Lake Padden Triathlon.

"Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest places if you look at it right."
